A turntable with the discipline to perform
Punch is defined by quiet confidence. Its presence is unmistakable refined, deliberate, and uncompromising yet it integrates effortlessly into its surroundings. Conceptually, Punch builds on the same foundation as Wallop, while pushing every aspect further. Its compact, unconventional form is not an expression of novelty, but of purpose: every line considered, every detail resolved.

Crafted for those who value depth over noise, Punch reveals the full character of your records. It doesn’t chase attention, it earns it through performance that endures. Whether rediscovering familiar pressings or exploring new recordings, Punch delivers with precision, consistency, and grace. A performance that draws you deeper into rhythm, melody, and timbre, expanding not just how you listen, but how often you reach for your records.

The Punch™ Turntable

Conceptually, the Punch turntable builds on the same foundation as the Wallop turntable. With Punch, we have taken the same design philosophy even further — resulting in a more confident, technically refined, and exclusive expression. As we believe that our design principles are nothing short of brilliant. All good things come in threes.

The upper armboard plate that houses the bearing is constructed in a similar way, using an internal torsion box of wooden slats arranged in a vertically oriented, truss-like honeycomb structure. This lightweight yet extremely rigid construction is designed to provide high structural stability without excessive weight. It achieves an optimal balance of rigidity, strength, and low mass.

If the Wallop ranks among the stiffest armboard torsion-box designs we have previously encountered, the Punch arm and bearing board takes this concept several steps further. Every function critical to refinement has been further developed and optimized to its highest level.

Punch’s torsion box is constructed from solid cedar wood and Finnish plywood, finished with a FENIX laminate surface, commonly used in high-end furniture applications. The internal slat height is 15% greater than that of Wallop.

The bottom plate is twice as thick as the corresponding plate in Wallop. In both cases, we use a special damping adhesive when laminating the three layers that make up the bottom plate. The added thickness provides several benefits: increased mass, a lower center of gravity, and the ability to separate functions between layers — for example, the motor is fastened in the bottom layer, while the skids sit in the top layer. The thicker construction also improves how the bottom plate is fastened to the sides.

The sides of the plinth, besides being visually refined, are an integral part of stiffening the bottom plate. When constructing Punch, no corners were cut. The sides consist of a solid piece of wood that has been split into three layers and then laminated back together to enhance stiffness and rigidity. The plinth is 25% higher and 15% thicker than Wallop.

The same principle applies to the motor block. The motor has been further isolated from both the tonearm and the sub-platter bearing. It rests on a robust rubber bushing, integrated within one of three sublayers on the underside of the plinth. Combined with damping adhesive, this creates a rigid, dense, and vibration-absorbing foundation, allowing all components to operate within a stable and controlled environment.

An additional feature is the ability to adjust belt tension directly from the top surface. The angle and distance between the tonearm mounting point and the sub-platter bearing are also adjustable, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of tonearms.

The Plinth

In developing the Wallop plinth, no corners were cut. With the Punch plinth, we have taken this philosophy even further. The plinth influences every aspect of performance — it is the most critical part of the turntable, the foundation that unifies the entire system.

Compared to Wallop, the Punch plinth has been expanded. This is a necessary progression to achieve the ideal equilibrium between the wood’s density and fiber structure and the mass of the components, further minimizing resonance and enhancing overall stability.

Performance & Design Philosophy

The Oops Audio Philosophy

Punch represents the purest and most uncompromising expression of the Oops Audio analogue philosophy. At its core lies the belief that a turntable should never behave as a machine first, but as a musical instrument for music reproduction. Every structural principle, every material choice, and every mechanical solution exists for one reason alone — to preserve the emotional energy, timing, and dynamic integrity of recorded music. Rather than pursuing mass or complexity for their own sake, Punch is engineered around balance, resonance control, and mechanical calm, creating a playback system where music emerges with extraordinary naturalness, stability, and presence.

Mechanical Silence

The entire mechanical architecture of Punch is designed to create an exceptionally silent and controlled environment for the cartridge and tonearm. Its advanced cedar-based honeycomb torsion structure evolves the lightweight truss philosophy pioneered by Oops Audio into a far more rigid and refined platform. Structural flex, micro-resonances, and energy storage are minimized at every level, allowing low-level musical information to emerge effortlessly from a remarkably black background. The result is not simply higher resolution, but a deeper sense of realism, flow, and emotional connection — where the mechanical structure itself disappears behind the music.

Controlled Energy

Punch introduces a substantially more advanced plinth and isolation architecture, engineered according to the same philosophy of controlled energy behavior rather than brute-force damping alone. The larger laminated solid-wood structure combines carefully distributed mass with mechanically separated layers that guide, absorb, and dissipate vibration in highly predictable ways. The suspended single-point motor mounting system further isolates rotational energy from the sensitive playback structure, while the electronically controlled Rega NEO PSU MKII ensures exceptional speed stability and pitch precision. Together, these systems create a foundation of extraordinary composure and mechanical stability under real musical conditions.

Analogue Instrument

More than a high-end turntable, Punch is conceived as a complete analogue instrument built around long-term musical relevance. Every visible and invisible detail reflects the broader Oops Audio philosophy: that true performance is achieved when engineering, craftsmanship, acoustics, and emotional communication work as one coherent whole. Punch is designed to integrate naturally into ambitious systems while remaining fundamentally focused on the experience of listening itself. The result is a turntable defined not by technical spectacle, but by permanence, refinement, and an unwavering dedication to the music above all else.
